KUALA LUMPUR: Royal Salute has renewed its partnership with the Royal Selangor Polo Club (RSPC) by sponsoring Royal Salute 21 Year Old bottles for the RSPC National League Final and the 2014 Royal Malaysia Polo Association (RMPA) National League, with more strategic tie-ups to be rolled out throughout the year.

“Globally, 2013 has seen another spectacular season of international polo with luxury Scotch whisky, Royal Salute, sponsoring some of the world’s most distinguished tournaments across four continents.

Pernod Ricard Malaysia will continue its partnership with RSPC this year and we look forward to solidifying our brand presence in Malaysia,” shared Terence Ong, managing director, Pernod Ricard Malaysia.

According to Datuk M David Morais, honorary secretary of RSPC and of the Royal Malaysian Polo Association, Royal Salute’s sponsorship of the RSPC National League Final and the 2014 RMPA National League is certainly a boost to the tournament and polo in Malaysia.

“The RMPA & RSPC is grateful for such collaborations like the one we formed with Royal Salute last year, as it helps to make the sport accessible to a wider audience and provides exposure as well as opportunity for advancement.

Polo is picking up interest in Malaysia and we welcome more Malaysians to be part of this exciting yet challenging sport, which still has much room for growth,” said David.

Apart from sponsoring the exceptional Royal Salute 21 Year Old whisky, Royal Salute awarded the first place team of the RSPC National League Final and the 2014 RMPA National League with four bottles of the Royal Salute 21 Year Old.

This year’s tournament saw four teams participating: La Sarita, Windhorse, KotaSAS-Crossborder, Tu Polo. Windhorse emerged the winner with four wins and took home the trophies for the RSPC National League Final and the 2014 RMPA National League.

It was Windhorse’s seventh consecutive win over two tournaments, a run that has taken them to the top of the National League. All teams play each other once for a total of four matches in a 6-8 league goal format.
