But the cost is about $1,000 per participant. To help offset the costs, Casting for Recovery and Brookside Guides is holding its first Women’s Fly-Fishing Retreat to benefit CFR June 23-25 at Lake Logan.
It will be very similar to what women experience who go through the Casting for Recovery. The rate will be $925 double occupancy and $1,000 single, including a half-day guided trip on the third day. Women will learn fly casting skills, presentation and entomology and specific instructions on how to fly fish Western North Carolina and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Participants will also enjoy yoga and down time with food, lodging and gear being included.
Instructors will be Starr Nolan of Asheville-based Brookside Guides and Charity Rutter of R&R Fly Fishing in Townsend, Tenn. Both are also long-time CfR volunteers. For more information, visit www.brooksideguides.com or email brooksideguides@charter.net.
