NEWARK — Meal tickets are still available for the Senior Fishing Tournament set from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wedensday at T.J. Evans Park in north Newark.
The fishing derby is for seniors age 60 or older and the physically challenged of any age. The noontime picnic of grilled hamburgers and brats, along with traditional side dishes, costs $3.
Tickets must be purchased in advance at Heritage Hall Senior Center, 1058 E. Main St.
Coffee and pastries will be available for breakfast. Participants can fish or just visit with friends at the shelter house. Trophies will be awarded in various fishing categories.
The event is sponsored by the Land of Legend Fly Fishers and Friends, Newark Parks and Recreation, the Licking County Aging Program, the Disabled American Veterans and Sak’s Market.
