  4. Food menu: Use a buffet style serving so that you have to get up to get more food. This makes you think twice about second helpings rather than mindlessly grabbing another chicken leg.
  5. Use a plate to eat: Take a plate, serve your food and sit down to eat.  It is easy to consume a large amount of calories standing at the kitchen counter without feeling like you have had a meal.
  6. Salad:  A small lettuce salad with minimal dressing is a good addition to any meal.
  7. Don’t measure your food, configure your plate. If you want to have a healthy balance on your dinner plate fill half of your plate with a green salad and raw veggies. Use a spray dressing like vinaigrette for calorie control. Fill one quarter of your plate with a cooked vegetable and one quarter of your plate with your meat or protein dish. No measuring and no calorie counting. You will get a balanced meal every time.
  8. Cold water. Make sure you are staying well hydrated.  When your water is cold you burn a few more calories to warm it up.
  9. Move on: If you don’t like to exercise, go for a walk or better yet, put on your favorite tunes and dance, dance, dance. If you have little kids have them join you and you will be the hit of the party.
  10. Think positive: Don’t let yourself have a negative attitude. Leave yourself positive notes on your mirror, inside the fridge and on your sun visor. You are worth the effort! Never give up!
