Cumbernauld judo club is a new senior judo club training in the Tryst Sport Centre on Wednesdays between 7 and 9pm.

The club is run by coach Stuart Ward 3rd Dan and for the past few years it was originally just a training session for experienced judo players from all over the Glasgow area.

Stuart has since done his UKCC level 2 coaching award and has set the club up under JudoScotland and is trying to get some of the old players from the original Tryst club and Abronhill Judo Club to come back and start doing judo again.

“We are looking for any experienced judo players who want to either get fit or do some light judo to come back and train again,” said Stuart.

“Just now the club is not open to beginners, but in the future we’re hoping to start a new senior beginners class.

“The club is going great at the moment and we have male and female players at different levels, with six brown belts hopefully fighting for their black belts soon. We’ve also got 1st, 2nd and 3rd dan black belts all fighting at Masters and senior level competitions.”
