A magician from Hornchurch is hoping to amaze viewers around the world with his video of street magic shot in London.

Jake Banfield has been staging magic shows since he was a child giving his early performances in classrooms at Sanders School.

He said: “David Blaine was on the television and I could do some of those card tricks, but they always wanted me to do more.”

Classroom shows continued through college and university as Jake honed his skills with the help of the proprietor of Kaymar Magic, in Upminster.

Now 26-years-old he is a member of The Magic Circle and planning his first one-man-show.

Jake has launched a video of street magic, during which he stuns members of the public by melting coins, reading their minds and changing his clothes faster than Superman in a broom cupboard.

The video has been attracting audiences on You Tube.

Jake said: “I’m really happy with the reception I would just like more and more people to see it. It’s longer than I thought because we had so much good footage.”

Jake said that performing tricks to the camera had been challenging, partly because of the proximity of his mark, but also great fun.

He said: “I love the feeling when someone is completely blown away and has no solution or answer. It’s great to give people something extraordinary.”

Since leaving the University of Essex with a first in business management Jake has been performing magic around the country and has ambitions of showcasing his talent on television.

As well as learning to manipulate metal and make objects disappear Jake co-wrote a book and has launched a company selling skiing merchandise.
