One thing which can be incredibly helpful to a type two diabetic but is often overlooked is a pet, especially a dog. Pets come with all sorts of general advantages but they can be fantastic little helpers when it comes to managing the disease.
Dogs particularly are fantastic motivators if you’re trying to lose weight through exercise. A dog has to be walked at least once a day for a start. They’re also more than happy to go more than once or run with you if that’s your thing. Depending on how good your four legged friend is you might even be able to cycle while it runs along-side.
When you get back from you exercise session, sweating and exhausted your pet’s not going to just ignore you. It’s going to shower you with love and adoration and that on its own is a great source of support and motivation. They’re not going to look at you funny for not running as far they’re going to look at you with absolute unadulterated love, which is just what you’ll need to get back out there and keep trying!
