The Most Important Meal Meet The Most Important Foods

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day in that it sets you up for everything else. If you don’t take in enough energy in your first meal then you’re going to struggle to make it to lunchtime without snacking. Having the extra burst of energy which breakfast can give you will help you deal with the worst the morning can throw at you with energy to spare!
You already knew that breakfast was important though, didn’t you? I bet you don’t know what the very best things to eat for breakfast are. Most would say proteins and though they are important we get any proteins we happen to miss at breakfast fairly easily in our other meals so you don’t need to make a massive effort to eat more. Don’t worry; we at Yourwellness have put together a short guide on the most important things to have for breakfast:

  1. Fruits and vegetables – Getting your five a day couldn’t be more important and traditionally people fail to manage this. Fruits and vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals as well as fibre and natural sugars to keep you going all the way up to lunchtime. Getting these into your diet can be as simple as having a sliced tomato or cucumber on your morning toast, or having a small vegetable omelette for breakfast.
  2. Whole Grains – We’ve all seen the adverts telling you how good whole grains are for you, but were you aware that professionals recommend over half of the grain you consume being wholegrain? These foods burn slowly in your stomach, releasing energy which will help keep you energised all the way through the day. There are all sorts of wholegrain alternatives to your favourite foods and getting them into your diet can be as simple as switching to wholegrain bread instead of the white bread you’re used to!
