How To Remedy The Winter Weight Gain

Winter is a time of depressing grey skies and air so cold it hurts. It’s a time for you to wrap up warm, eat plenty and see family. Christmas comes around and we chow down, drinking merrily and revelling in the cosy warmth of family and friends. However when we get to this time of year, the slow crawl out of the winter months, it can get a little worrying. We all gain a bit of weight over winter but for some it can be hard to shift that weight again come springtime. If you’re worried about your winter weight gain, there are some neat tricks you can use to help you shed those pounds again or even prevent it in the first place!

  • It’s easy to convince yourself you don’t want to go outside and in doing so convince yourself not to exercise. We’ve all got very crafty minds constantly looking for rationalisation in terms of getting out of things we don’t want to do. It’s important to stamp down hard on these voices and force yourself to exercise if that’s part of your weight loss plan. Perhaps shift to some work outs you can do in doors, or try and do it in short bursts. Regardless of how you end up doing it, just make sure you do end up doing it!
  • Winter-warmer doesn’t mean pie and chips! Don’t forgo fresh food just because it’s cold out, make sure you’re getting the best of a balanced diet. You can still cook fresh food in a way that’ll help you combat the chill. Soups, stews and casseroles are great warmers and you can make them with all fresh ingredients so you stay warm and healthy at the same time!
  • Layers are important to in the winter months but they can also be responsible for us losing the connection with our body image. It’s important that you’re one with your body and that you know how you look without those layers. Make sure you take the time to really look at yourself in between hopping between the six jumpers and your duvet!
