Salmon, The Super Food Which Tastes As Good As It Looks

There are a whole host of foods which are now considered super foods. These tend to be foods which only offer positive features and no negative ones. Celery is a good example as it actually contains so few calories that eating it burns off more than you take in, meaning you burn calories when you eat celery. Salmon is another example of a super food, it’s part of the oily fish group and doesn’t just taste great but gives you some amazing benefits too. We’ve put together every single thing you could possibly ever want to know about salmon.

Where do you find Salmon?

You generally find salmon along the coasts of the north Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Scotland is well-known for its salmon and a lot of the Loch’s are full of them. Salmon generally spawn in rivers and then swim out to sea, returning to the same river to breed and die years later. They have recently been introduced to the North American Great Lakes.

Where is Salon produced?

Salmon farms can be found all over the world. Norway is famous for its salmon, as is Scotland. Places like Chile produce vast amounts of the fish too, showing just how diverse the farming countries are.

Smoked salmon is popular in the UK and in these cases the salmon is pink and cut into thin slices, it has a strong smoky flavour as you’d expect. In general salmon has a light flavour and isn’t nearly as strong as a lot of other oily fish
