This year, 1,791,000 college students will graduate, and of course each one will be looking to take the next step on their journey to corporate wellness, and that is getting a job.
Unemployment rates are currently down, but nevertheless, the rate still stands at 7.5 percent and the competition for every job vacancy that become available is still very fierce indeed.
Most students have a great deal of debt, and are desperate to snag that first job to start being responsible for their own wellbeing, and to be able to take a step forward away from living at home with their parents.
Only 45 percent of college graduates are able to get their own place, but by following a few simple tips, you could snare that job of your dreams and finally create your own independence and wellness in the world of work.
Speaking plain English is a massively important consideration. We don’t mean as opposed to another language, but when speaking English in interviews you should make sure to use a correct English style with no slang, text speak or baby talk. It is not impressive to prospective employers and will not win you a job.
You should also refrain from placing all your eggs in one basket – if you want to get a job then you have to apply for dozens (and we mean that quite literally) of jobs. It is time consuming and interviews are exhausting, but you have to place a lot of bets to come up with a winner. Don’t use the same cover letter for every application, though, make sure you customise it to fit with the job in hand.
Networking can also be really important for the job industry. Sometimes it’s as much about who you know as what you know, so take full advantage of any connections that you (or your parents or friends) may have.
