Beat dehydration with these flavoured water recipes

If you often find yourself low on energy, blame it on dehydration. It is important, that you increase the intake of fluids and drink water at regular intervals. While eight glasses of water is what’s recommended, you can also enjoy the goodness of some yum and delicious hydrating fluids. Listed below is a list of easy-to-make flavoured water recipes that are not only healthy, but also low in calories. Try these recipes and make your water tastier and healthier, ensuring that you readily reach out to them throughout the day.

Lemon, tulsi and ginger

The anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties of basil make it a power-packed herb which is beneficial to your overall health, skin and hair. Ginger is known to contain high levels of vitamin C, magnesium and other minerals.

1. To make this infused water, slice up two lemons into half and keep aside.
2. Next, wash and dry a handful of fresh basil leaves. Give them a little scrunch to release the flavour.
3. Crush a medium sized ginger and add to a pitcher filled with some ice.
4. Add the lemon and basil leaves before adding some cold water.
5. For best results, wait for an hour or two before sipping on this fresh and delicious mix.

Apple, ginger and daalchini

Cinnamon is rich in antioxidants and helps in keeping your blood sugar levels in check. Apples, on the other hand, are an important source of flavanoids and dietary fibre.

1. Cut an apple into thin slices and add into a pitcher along with some ice cubes.  
2. Slightly crush some ginger pieces so as to release some flavor.
3. Add the crushed ginger and a pinch a cinnamon into the pitcher and stir for two to three minutes.
4. Refrigerate overnight.

Lime, strawberry and mint

In addition to their cooling effect, mint leaves are also known to aid digestion. Limes are a great source of vitamin C and help boost immunity and aid digestion.

1. Cut six strawberries into quarters and one big lime into thin slices.
2. Next, wash and dry about five to six fresh mint leaves. Give the leaves a little twist so as to release some flavour.
3. Before filling the pitcher with cold water, add the strawberries, lime and mint leaves. You can add some ice, if needed.
4. Let infuse for at least an hour before drinking.

Orange, tulsi and grapes

While oranges are loaded with antioxidants and vitamin C, grapes help lower cholesterol. Basil leaves help flush out toxins from the body.

1. After cutting two oranges into thin slices, slightly squeeze them and place in the pitcher.
2. Next, add into it a handful of grapes. It’s best to squish them slightly for added flavour.  
3. Take about six to seven fresh basil leaves along with some ice and add into the pitcher.
4. Refrigerate for at least four to five hours.  

Cucumber, lemon and daalchini

Cucumbers are rich in water and fibre, both which in turn are essential for digestion. In addition to being low in calories, they contain essential minerals and nutrients.

1. Cut up one full cucumber and lemon into thin slices and place into a pitcher.
2. Add some ice and a pinch of freshly ground cinnamon powder.
3. This infused drink tastes better when it’s chilled for about two to three hours.

Ginger, peach and lemon

Peaches are a rich source of minerals such as iron, potassium, etc. Apart from being low in calories, they are an abundant source of dietary fibre.

1. Cut four fresh peaches and an inch of ginger into thin slices.
2. Squeeze the juice of one big lemon and add to the pitcher along with some ice cubes
3. If needed, you can add some fresh mint leaves
4. After you’ve added the peaches and ginger into the pitcher, stir and let chill for an hour.

Cucumber and lemongrass

Lemongrass not only helps boost immunity, but also improves digestion and burns fat.

1. Wash and peel two cucumbers and one lemongrass stalk.
2. Cut the cucumbers into thin slices and the lemongrass into two halves, lengthwise
3. Using a rolling pin, gently smash the lemongrass and cucumbers before placing into the pitcher
4. Add some ice and water and refrigerate for an hour
5. Before serving, stir well

Blackberry, lemon and ginger

Just one serving of blackberries can replenish your body with nutrients such as fibre, vitamin C, manganese and vitamin K. What’s best, they are said to contain lesser calories.

1. Wash and add a handful on blackberries into a pitcher
2. Cut a medium-sized ginger into small pieces and the lemon into thin slices
3. Add everything into the pitcher and using the back of a wooden spoon, slightly crush the ingredients
4. Fill with some water and ice. Refrigerate for an hour

Grapefruit and rosemary

Rosemary helps detoxify the liver, boosts memory and stimulates circulation. Grapefruit is an abundant source of essential nutrients such as potassium, fibre and vitamin C.

1. Cut a fresh grapefruit into thin slices and add into a pitcher
2. Next, add a fresh and large sprig of rosemary along with some ice cubes
3. Stir for a while and drink immediately
