It is NOT okay to have just fruits for breakfast!
IT IS NOT OKAY TO HAVE JUST FRUITS FOR BREAKFAST: The ancient theory of surviving only on fruits has been popular for a while now. Fruits are packed with many essential vitamins, minerals, fibers and carbohydrates but does that make them a healthy meal replacement? Especially when the meal in question is the most important one of the day?
Low blood sugar levels
LOW BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS: A perfect breakfast should be an ideal combination of carbs, proteins, fiber, fats, vitamins and minerals. Since, your breakfast is meant to break your 7-8 hours of fasting post a good night’s sleep, the first meal of the day should be packed with the above nutrients to fuel your body for the rest of the day. If you only have fruits for breakfast every morning, your blood sugar levels can drop down marginally since the glucose your body gets from carbs will be missing.
Leads to weight gain
LEADS TO WEIGHT GAIN: Contrary to popular belief, eating only fruits can actually increase your weight. This is because your body will not get the required amount of nutrition at the beginning of the day, which will eventually make you binge on heavier meals the rest of the day.
Duller skin
DULLER SKIN: Fruits do help in bringing about natural glow to your skin but this does not happen when you replace a meal with them. Beginning your day with a fruit is ideal but it should be followed by a nutrient-packed breakfast.
You feel hungry all the time
YOU FEEL HUNGRY ALL THE TIME: If your breakfast is incomplete, you are bound to feel hungry through the day. Feeling hungry is not a bad thing but if it turns perpetual in nature and rings in at odd times, it can.
You can be constipated
YOU CAN BE CONSTIPATED: Even though fruits are rich in fiber, only fruits for breakfast can leave you constipated as well. Carbs, proteins and fats lead to bulk-forming in the stomach. Depending only on fruits can hinder this process.
Less energy
LESS ENERGY: A consequence of all the above is that there will be a dip in your energy levels. Your breakfast sets your energy for the rest of the day and if you depend on only-fruits, it may cause a slower metabolism.
