Crowds packed the Berkeley Institute Gymnasium last night [Apr 5], as the Teachers Fight Night took place with some of the island’s top fighters taking centre stage.
The night got underway with Kaelin Cox out of the Bermuda San Shou Association winning over Anthony Williams from Controversy Boxing Gym, while the next fight saw Bermuda San Shou Association fighter Jason Lowe defeat Neil Templeman from the Controversy Boxing Gym.
Adam Chevis from the Bermuda San Shou Association had his fight stopped after the first round after his opponent Zubair Hasan failed to come out the corner for the second round. Callon Burns won his match after Mark Prior was a no show.
Coleman Mills out of the Forty Rego’s Gym knocked out Justin Tucker from the Controversy Boxing Gym in the third round. Both fighters had standing eight counts during the bout, but Mills landed a punch that sent Tucker to the canvas and the fight was ended.
Corey Boyce was the first fighter out of the Red Corner to win a fight on the night when he knocked out Shannon Ford from the Bermuda San Shou Association in the third round.
Nick Hoover out of the Fifth Round Martial Arts and Training Academy in Canada defeated Andre Lambe from Forty Rego’s Gym by unanimous decision.
The event then switched to kickboxing with Bermuda San Shou Association fighter Khalid Pitcher winning a split decision over MAS Academy of Martial Arts Training fighter Drew Geoghegan from Canada.
Jashun Thomas from Forty Rego’s Gym won his fight when his opponent Shamos Hamel from the MAS Academy of Martial Arts Training corner threw the towel in the ring in the third round.
Shelby Marchand from the MAS Academy of Martial Arts Training Gym defeated Bermuda San Shou Association fighter Talia Iris by split decision and then the main fight of the night was won by Bermuda’s Jermal Woolridge by unanimous decision over his opponent Joey Brozovich out of the MAS Academy of Martial Arts Training Gym in Canada.
