Stockmann has retained the status of the best shopping centre in the Helsinki region, suggests a recent survey carried out by the market research company Taloustutkimus.
In the survey, roughly one thousand residents of the capital region were asked to award an overall score to a total of 29 shopping centres as well as the Stockmann and Sokos department stores in central Helsinki. In addition, the shopping centres were ranked on the basis of their location, product range and overall convenience.
Location, the survey indicates, is the most significant factor for consumers when deciding what shopping centre to use. In this respect, the centrally-located department stores Sokos and Stockmann and the shopping centre Kamppi ranked the highest, whereas the larger shopping centres Jumbo, Itis and Sello received high marks for their product ranges.
The Kaari shopping centre, established in the district of Kannelmäki less than a year ago, was a surprise entry in the top five. Kaj Grahn, the managing director of the shopping centre, is happy to hear the results of the survey.
“We’re really honoured. Kaari being the fifth largest shopping centre in the capital region, we have naturally aimed high,” he says.
Grahn believes the assets of Kaari include its convenient location and sufficient parking space.
