Under 20
During your teenage years, you’re blessed with naturally line-free skin, so your anti-ageing programme doesn’t need to begin here. Prevention is the key during this stage, so avoid the sun where possible and always use a high SPF sun screen to prevent sun damage.
During your 20’s
Still in a glowing and youthful phase, your twenties are the ideal time to start maintaining this glow – use a gentle moisturiser, keep up with the sun screen and begin exfoliating regularly in order to keep the softness to your skin.
During your 30’s
Your skin starts to show faint signs of ageing during your thirties, so now is the time to up your game in terms of anti-ageing. You may notice that your skin has started to become a little drier, so exfoliate once a week to make sure you’re not just moisturising the top layers of your skin. Opt for a nourishing moisturiser to penetrate the skin and keep it hydrated, continue using sun screen and add an eye cream to your regime to maintain a smooth eye area.
During your 40’s
As you age, your skin becomes rougher and drier, as well as more prone to discolouration. Adding retinol and peptides to your regime is useful here to ensure your skin stays smooth and line-free, so look for moisturisers with those ingredients, and continue with the other elements of your regular regime to prevent any further damage.
50’s And Beyond
Lines and wrinkles are more prominent in your fifties so an anti-ageing programme is advisable here – with any luck, your preventative measures from years before will have worked to ensure you have a smooth and youthful complexion, but if not you may want to opt for an intensive anti-ageing cream to smooth any lines you may have. Throughout all stages of your life, top up any treatments you use with a balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to top up your anti-ageing regime from the inside too.
