You need to be willing to make change and commit to that change or you’re going to be making your life much more difficult. It’s not really about self-control just like it’s not really about dieting or exercise. Weight loss is about predicting yourself and anticipating what you’re going to do. If you’re a chronic snacker then don’t allow snacks in the house, you can’t eat what’s not there. If you’re a spur of the moment kind of food buyer then don’t go out with any money in excess of what you actually need and give your card to a trusted friend.
At the end of the day, no one knows you better than you do. When I was trying to lose weight I only bought ice lollies as a snacky food. I know I love them, so I’d eat them but not too many as excessive amounts of frozen treats give you brain freeze. As a general rule, water and fruit juice lollies are actually not that bad for you either. In this way I eliminated my ability to snack but tricked myself into thinking I was still doing so. This is the sort of crafty planning you’re going to have to make for yourself too!
Weight loss is as hard or as easy as you’re willing to make it. Don’t make mountains out of molehills and you’ll find your route a lot less steep!
