Clean your skin
Cleansing is one of the easiest ways to improve the condition of your skin, yet many people skip this vital step. Cleanse your skin morning and night to remove any dirt, make-up or dead skin cells – these gather on the skin and can dull the appearance and texture. Try to avoid cleansers with harsh chemicals or perfumes, as these can irritate the balance of the skins natural oils.
Eat a balanced diet
You are what you eat, or so they say. It’s certainly true here! You should aim to cut back on sugar, which will break down the collagen which is responsible for the elasticity in your skin, as well as packing your diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables. Fruit especially is loaded with skin-loving nutrients and antioxidants, which are vital for breaking down free radicals. These cause wrinkles and a dull texture. Berries, broccoli, tomatoes and oranges are all great places to start. Healthy fats found in oily fish and nuts are also important.
Stay hydrated
Water is crucial for a clear complexion, so top up on the clear stuff. Water helps to flush toxins from the body, helps your organs function effectively and stops your skin from drying out. Aim for six to eight glasses each day so that you body stays properly hydrated.
Exfoliate
As previously mentioned, dead skin cells can gather on the surface of your skin to leave it dry and dull. Exfoliating helps to slough away these cells to reveal the fresh, clear skin underneath. Do this once or twice a week, all over your body, and you’ll soon notice a difference in the texture and appearance of your skin.
Stay moisturised
Moisture is important for your skin to maintain its youthful glow, so be sure to moisturise every morning. Try to find one which is well suited to your skin type so that you don’t irritate it with chemicals or perfumes.
