Weight watchers are often in dilemma about what makes for an ideal dinner. Should it be a light soup/salad or simple dal chawal? Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar, an advocate of local foods is often seen talking about the importance of eating foods we have grown up eating.

In a recent post on social media, Rujuta was seen talking about how one should be choosing dal chawal over soup salad for dinner. Rujuta's theory is simple: The food we have grown up eating can never hurt us as our bodies are already accustomed to it.

The foreign foods industry is growing because they keep promoting their benefits, most often making weight loss as their prime selling point. It is because of this, many distant foods like avocados, goji berries, blueberries have become a part of our diet.

According to Rujuta, the theory of losing weight through soup salad for dinner is rubbish and will not help anyone. Her mantra is easy: She backs the age-old dal chawal that we all have grown up eating. Since our body is used to it, it not only makes us feel full but is also healthy for us.

As per Rujuta, rice has essential amino acids, vitamins and phytonutrients along with carbs. Carbohydrates are crucial for our body as they have a calming effect.

In the past as well Rujuta has been seen slamming foreign foods entering our food chain. She has spoken about foods such as Californian almonds in her earlier videos.
