Resolutions for the single girl who’s looking for love
2018 is almost upon us (the year really flew by, na?) and you know what that means. It’s time to make the same promise again.‘New year, new me’. If 2017 wasn’t so great for you in the love department, here are some resolutions you need to adopt to ensure Cupid’s arrow finally hits you this year.
Stop stalking your ex’s social media
Everyone knows the drill. After a breakup comes the heartbreak, and then begins the endless vortex of stalking your ex on social media. Is he happy without me? Has he found someone new? Does he miss me? But let the new year ring in a new beginning. A clean slate, almost. Besides, you can’t really accept new love if you keep harbouring an old one.
Don’t cling to your checklist
Everyone has a checklist—he needs to be tall, has a good sense of humour, should rock a great beard and the list goes on. But there’s a chance that this checklist you hold so dear to your heart is the reason you aren’t able to find love. You get hung up on the nitty-gritties and ruin your own chances of finding true love. Be open to possibilities and you might just end up being surprised with what you find.
Try out new places/things
2018 seems like a good year to switch things up. Try hitting some new places to hang out at or sign up for a new class, maybe? Try creative writing, dance, baking or whatever interests you. Or try blind dating. Maybe ask a friend to set you up on a date? The more you put yourself out there, the better the chances of you finding your Mr Right, right?
Flash those pearly whites
Body language is a powerful thing. One small change in how you carry yourself can make a big difference to your love life. And all it takes is 43 muscles! Smile a bit more. Even if you are too shy to approach a stranger, just smile. What’s the worst that could happen anyway? Besides, smiling also makes you more approachable.
Love (and accept) yourself
Ain’t no love like self-love. You can’t accept love in to your life until you love yourself first. Make this the year where you get to know and love yourself. Self-love doesn’t come easy, but work hard on building it up every day. Maintain a journal, travel solo or get comfortable spending time with yourself. Get into a relationship because you want to and not because you want somebody to fill a void in your life.
Don’t give in to pressure
Being single is great. But sometimes, just sometimes, it also gets a bit hard. Especially when everyone around you is in a relationship.Or when your family keeps enquiring about your love life. But remember to only and only get into relationships for the right reasons. If you’re the kind who can’t stay alone, deal with the root problem instead of getting into temporary relationships. It’s a vicious cycle after all.
