Maybelline’s Newest Makeup Pro Is A Serious Game Changer

It’s possible you don’t know the name Yadim Carranza, but you’ve definitely seen his work. Rihanna’s bronzed-and-gorgeous ad for Balmain? He gave her that glow. Lady Gaga’s paint-smudged “Applause” music video? Carranza got his hands dirty for that one. But, even with these incredible bullet points (and a ton more) on his résumé, Carranza isn’t slowing down. Today, he was announced as the new global makeup artist for Maybelline New York.

We’ve gotta say, this marriage is so perfect we can’t believe we didn’t broker it ourselves. Anyone who has seen Yadim’s work can tell the guy has an eye for color. “I love the idea of makeup as something quick and spontaneous, and I love the idea of being able to experiment and have fun,” he told Vogue. Team that with Maybelline’s bright colors, shimmering metallic shadows, and super-slick glosses, and you’ve got a recipe for dopeness.

Aside from lending his well-trained eye to the color cosmetics of Maybelline, Yadim will be contributing to the brand’s newly relaunched City blog on a regular basis. Here, he’ll be offering up tutorials and of-the-moment beauty looks for your viewing pleasure, so get ready to update your RSS feeds. “Having the opportunity to work with a brand that has made makeup trends accessible to all women is a dream come true,” Yadim said of his new role. Gorgeous makeup coupled with how-tos from the artist himself? This is one collaboration we can’t wait to play around with.
