Ricki Vann “We are in an area where hunters come to hunt deer. We even found several shell casings on the side of the road. We talked to a couple deer hunters who say the new regulations give them nothing but trouble.”
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission made big two changes to the way hunters kill deer in Northwest Florida.
In an effort to give more people a chance to hunt deer, the new hunting zone is now separated into two different zones along I-10.
The north and the south zone.
Deer hunters say the new regulation is needed for this area.

But some hunters think the laws are too complicated and hard to keep up with.
Rick Bankston/Deer Hunter “The intentions are good they want to make things better but they are making things too complex, south of Interstate 10 you have these laws north of Interstate 10 you have other laws.
The new laws are broken down like this– north of I-10 buck’s must have three-points that are one inch long.
They must also have at least one antler that’s five inches or longer.
The antler could also have a beam of 10-inches or more.
To the south of I-10, buck’s must have two-points that are one inch long and at least one antler must be 5 inches or more.
“They are just adding more and more. You gotta have a tag for this- you have to have a tag for that. It’s too complex it’s too difficult. It’s to the point you need a Philadelphia lawyer to go with you because the average guy cannot keep up with the regulations.”
While the regulations seem difficult to keep up with, to the avid deer hunter like Chuck he says the wait is well worth it.
