Normal Coucil Looks to Clear Final Development Hurdles for Hyatt
While work has finally begun in the hole near uptown circle, the town of normal is taking the final legal steps to ensure the Hyatt Hotel meets all of its codes.
Council will sign off on some of the changes tonight, which will be related to the hotel, including adding the residential space nearby.
Once approved, city leaders say the hotel could be done in less than a year. Other waivers include the height of the proposed Hyatt, which would be twice as tall as the town’s limits.
“I don’t see any problems with them being approved. The actual Hyatt Hotel itself, the design, the materials are nearly identical to what the council has already seen and approved,” said city manager Mark Peterson.
Also tonight, council is expected to approve a nearly 3 percent raise for its police officers and $82,000 loan to the Rock Restaurant for its own expansion project.
