Paralympian Ingram ready to impart words of wisdom

Paralympic Silver Medallist Sam Ingram will head a JudoScotland TRI-judo session on Saturday, May 3, at the Queens Centre in Galashiels.

TRI-judo was first introduced at last year’s European Open in Glasgow, followed by a session led by Gemma Gibbons at the beginning of this year.

Sam will be on hand to share his inspirational stories and offer support and guidance to the players while the sessions also offer an abundance of support to coaches, by aiding their development programmes and adding something fresh to their daily syllabus.

The event is open to all JudoScottland members, of all age groups, who can go along and train with Sam and ask him about his experiences in judo. Full details can be found at http://tinyurl.com/o6yommv.

All places must be booked in advance. Contact stephen
somerville@judoscotland.com for more information.

In addition to Sam’s visit, the Galashiels-based Focus Judo club will be holding taster sessions at the Queens Centre on Friday, May 2, as part of the Commonwealth passport programme for primary school children. Contact the club via their website at www.focus
judo.org.

Langholm’s Melissa Park, who is a member of the local Shotokan Karate Club, has achieved her Black Belt (1st Dan) at the age of 11.

Under the guidance and training of Sensei Philip Gunn, she has steadily advanced through the grades over the past four years.

Melissa attended a course grading in the Honbu, Dunfermline, in front of a panel of senior Dan graders.
