Central Ga. volunteers to assist Florida storm victims

Hundreds of people were left homeless by the storms that flooded Florida Wednesday.

The Central Georgia chapter of the American Red Cross is sending volunteers to help those storm victims.

Jimmy Joines is one of them. The Red Cross called him Wednesday for this deployment.

Joines is relatively new to volunteering – his first assignment was in La Grange after an ice storm a few months ago.

He’s trained to set up shelters and has many years of emergency response under his belt.

Joines is picking up 2 more volunteers, going to Savannah, then to Florida.
