Sioux Central pulls out the victory in Lake City

 

 

LAKE CITY – The Sioux Central girls’ track team pulled out a nail bitter of a victory Friday as they won the Ross Samuelson Co-Ed Relays on the last two races of the evening edging South Central Calhoun 145-140.

 

The Rebels were dominant up down almost every event as they finished with seven first place finishes and 23 total top five finishes. Individual first place finishes for the Rebels were Kenzie Kuene won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.91 seconds as well as the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:08. Darma Tripp won the long jump with a leap of 15’10”, Paige Bennett won the 3000 meter run with a time of 12:44, the Shuttle Hurdle Relay team won with a time of 1:11, the 4×200 ran a 1:51 winning first, and the 4×100 relay team ran 52 seconds flat winning the race.

 

Other finishes for the Rebels were Katie Gibson who finished third in the shot put with a throw 33’4″ and fifth in the discus with a throw of 95’7″. Nicole Hamilton placed second in the high jump with a leap of 4’8″, Carly Huber finished fourth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 13:16, Tripp finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.12 seconds. Jenny Sievers came in fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:05, Hamilton ran the 800 meter dash in 2:39 finishing fourth, Tripp came in third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.78 seconds and Mallory Bjork came in fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.7 seconds. Bennett finished third in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:51 and Huber finished fifth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 6:06.

 

The 4×800 relay team finished second with a time of 12:05, the distance medley team placed fifth with their time of 4:55, the sprint medley team placed fourth with a time of 2:05 and the 4×400 relay team placed third just ahead of South Central Calhoun that ultimately sealed the team victory with a time of 4:33.

 

The Rebels are at Southeast Webster Grand today, and then travel to Cherokee on Thursday.
