Missouri

 

• TRUMAN: 60 degrees, muddy, normal. Outlook: Bucksaw Marina reports: crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows along spawning banks; bass poor to fair flipping jigs, plastics in back of creeks; catfish poor. Below the dam: Cody’s Bait and Tackle reports: crappies good at night on jigs, minnows in the cutoff channel and main channel; white bass, hybrids good early and late on jigs, Zara Spooks, Hawgsticks; catfish fair at night on cut shad.

 

• BULL SHOALS: Low 60s, clear, normal. Outlook: 125 Marina reports: largemouth, Kentucky, smallmouth bass good on Gitzits along banks; crappies fair on jigs along banks.

 

• JACOMO: 62 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Forty Woods Bait and Tackle reports: crappies good on minnows, jigs in the shallows; channel catfish good at night on chicken liver in the coves.

 

• BLUE SPRINGS: 66 degrees, clear, one-half foot high. Outlook: Blue Springs Lake Marina reports: crappies very good on jigs, minnows off the marina docks and in the shallows on the lake; black bass good on soft-plastic baits, jigs, spinnerbaits in the shallows.

 

• STOCKTON: 62 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Stockton Lake Guide Service reports: crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows in 2 to 6 feet of water along spawning banks; walleyes very good on jigs with night crawlers in 6 to 12 feet of water off points; bass fair on jigs, plastic worms along spawning banks.

 

• NORFORK: 65 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Bink’s Guide Service reports: bass good on jigs, soft-plastic baits along spawning banks.

 

• TABLE ROCK: 60 degrees, clear, near normal. Outlook: White River Lodge reports: black bass good on topwater lures early off main-lake points and on jigs, plastic baits later in the day along wind-blown banks.

 

• SMITHVILLE: 62 degrees, clear on the main lake, murky in the creeks, 1 foot low. Outlook: Burton’s Bait and Tackle reports: bass very good on Brush Hogs, Beavers, jigs along spawning banks; crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows near the banks in the afternoon and evening; channel catfish good on cut shad, liver in the creeks.

 

• LONGVIEW: 63 degrees, 36-inch clarity, one-half foot low. Outlook: Longview Lake Marina reports: crappies good on minnows along spawning banks; black bass fair on crankbaits, soft-plastic baits along spawning banks.

 

• REED AREA: 69 degrees, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Department of Conservation reports: crappies fair on tube jigs under bobbers over the shallow brush; bass good on plastic baits in the brush and weed beds; channel catfish good on a variety of baits; bluegills good on worms under bobbers.

 

•  TANEYCOMO: clear, low to moderate power generation. Most generation in late afternoon. Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: Trophy Area: trout very good on 1/100-th ounce jigs 4 to 6 feet down under strike indicators; also size 14 zebra midges (best colors are red, black or rusty) 3 to 4 feet down under strike indicators. When there is current, white 1/8-th ounce jigs cast along banks are working. Below Fall Creek: trout fair on night crawlers.

 

• LAKE OF THE OZARKS: mid-60s degrees, clear, 1 1/2 feet low and rising. Outlook: Gier’s Bass Pro reports: crappies good (but scattered) on minnows, jigs in 8 to 10 feet of water in Bagnell Dam area; bass fair on shaky-head rigs, plastic lizards in 8 to 10 feet of water.

 

• POMME DE TERRE: 64 degrees, clear, 2 feet high. Outlook: Muskie Guide Service reports: crappies fair to good on jigs, minnows in 15 to 20 feet of water in the brush; bass fair on plastic baits out from spawning banks.

 

 

Kansas

 

• WILSON: 54 degrees, clear, 6 feet low. Outlook: Knothead’s reports: walleyes good on jigs with night crawlers or leeches on the flats; bass good on crankbaits in shallow, rocky areas; white bass good on night crawlers in the coves; catfish good on minnows, worms, shrimp.

 

• GLEN ELDER: 59 degrees, fairly clear, 2 feet low. Outlook: Wayne’s Sporting Goods reports: crappies fair on jigs, minnows out from spawning banks; white bass fair on jigging spoons, grubs on the north end of the causeway and in the river channels; walleyes good on night crawlers, minnows on the south side; catfish good on panfish in the river.

 

• COFFEY COUNTY: 62 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Coffey County reports: smallmouth bass good on plastic baits on the riprap; white bass good on crankbaits, plastic baits in the shallows; crappies, wipers fair.

 

• MILFORD: 60 degrees, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Rick Dykstra reports: black bass good on jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, plastic baits along the banks; crappies fair to good on minnows, jigs in 3 to 6 feet of water; catfish good on shad, cut bait in 5 to 10 feet of water.

 

• POMONA: 64 degrees, clear to stained, 1 foot low. Outlook: Lighthouse Bay Marina reports: crappies very good on minnows in less than 5 feet of water along spawning banks; walleyes good on jigs with night crawlers along the dam.

 

• CLINTON: 60 degrees, clear, 5 feet low. Outlook: Clinton Marina reports: crappies very good early and late on minnows in shallows and during the day in 5 to 8 feet of water.

 

• HERITAGE: 66 degrees, murky, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Rec reports: catfish good on liver, worms in the morning; crappies good on minnows, worms along the banks; bass fair on spinnerbaits, plastic worms, plastic lizards in the morning.

 

• PERRY: 61 degrees, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Bait Hut reports: crappies good on jigs, minnows along spawning banks; white bass fair on small spinners along the banks; catfish good drifting shad, cut bait.

 

• HILLSDALE: 64 degrees, clear, 1 1/2 feet low. Outlook: Jayhawk Marina reports: crappies good on minnows along spawning banks; walleyes fair on jigs with night crawlers on the flats.

 

• TUTTLE CREEK: 63 degrees, clear to muddy, 2 feet low. Outlook: Guide Vic Oertle reports: crappies, white bass, catfish fair to good on crankbaits with boat sitting in 20 feet of water and casting to the rocky shallows; crappies good on minnows, jigs in shallows in muddy water.

 

• MELVERN: 66 degrees, dingy on upper end, clear on rest, 3 feet low. Outlook: Melvern Marina reports: crappies good on minnows off marina docks and on upper end.

 

•  SHAWNEE MISSION: 64 degrees, 2-foot clarity, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Rec reports: crappies fair on jigs, minnows along the banks; catfish fair on liver, worms, dough baits along the north shore; bass fair on plastic lizards, spinnerbaits along the banks; wipers fair on crankbaits in the coves.

 

• KILL CREEK: 63 degrees, 8-foot clarity, normal. Outlook: Johnson County Park and Rec reports: crappies good on minnows, worms, jigs early and late; bass fair on spinnerbaits, jigs, crankbaits, plastic lizards early and late; catfish fair on liver, worms in the evening; walleyes fair on worms, minnows in the headwaters and on the north side in the morning.

 

• WYANDOTTE: 60 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Wyandotte Boats reports: crappies fair on jigs, minnows in 18 feet of water; channel catfish fair on chicken liver, night crawlers off points; bass good on plastic baits in the shallows.

 

• EL DORADO: 63 degrees, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Wildlife, Parks and Tourism reports: walleyes good on deep-diving crankbaits, jigs with night crawlers at variable depths; crappies fair on jigs, minnows along spawning banks; catfish fair to good on shad along windy banks.

 

• LA CYGNE: 63 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Linn County Parks reports: all species poor.

 

 

Other area waters

 

•  GRAND (OKLA.): 61 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Guide Tony Coatney reports: crappies fair to good (but mostly small) on jigs, minnows along the banks; white bass very good on jug lines with cut shad; largemouth bass fair on soft-plastic baits (fish are moving off the spawning banks).

 

•  WHITE RIVER (ARK.): Clear, one to two units running most of the day. Outlook: Gaston’s White River Resort reports: Fly fishing: trout good to excellent on Copper John flies, zebra pearl midges. Spin fishing: trout very good on PowerBait, night crawlers, Rapala Scatter Raps, countdown Rapalas.

 

•  BEAVER LAKE: 62 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Bailey’s Guide Service reports: stripers good trolling live shad or umbrella rigs with white grubs in 25 feet of water. Stripers also are being caught trolling Rapalas, Bombers on flat lines with planer boards.
