Cañon City track and field teams take 2nd in leagues

The boys and girls Cañon City track and field teams took second place at the South-Central League meet that ended Saturday in Pueblo.

 

The boys lost 129-123 to Pueblo South, and the girls fell to the Colts 169-155.

 

Trenton Stringari won the 110-meter hurdles, the 300 hurdles and the 100 sprint.

 

For relays, the girls’ 4×100, 4×400 and 4×800 won their respective races. The 4×800 broke the CCHS school record. The sprint medley was second, and the 4×200 was third. The boys’ 4×200 won its race, and the 4×100 (second), 4×400 (fifth) and 4×800 (fourth) also had good showings.

 

Aubrey Till won the mile run. In her first-place finish, Katie Till broke her school record in the 800-meter run, and sister Aubrey took second.

Ellie Enderle took second in the 100 hurdles and won the 300 hurdles. Emily Lambrecht was third in the 300.

Dacian Sullivan was second in the 100 meter and Dylan Allbrandt was third. Sullivan was third in the 100 and won the 400.

 

Alexis Buckhaults took first place in the 100-meter hurdles, third in the long jump and third in the triple jump.

 

Hannah Meek was third in the 100. Lisa VanGalder was fourth in the 200 and third in the 400. Meek was fourth in the 400.

 

Annika Hildebrand took fifth in the discus, and Amanda Ary was fourth in the shot. Rachael Lamman was fifth in the high jump.

 

Austin Brant was second in the discus and fifth in the shot put. Daniel Farkas was third in the discus and sixth in shot.

 

Jamison Smith was fourth in the two-mile run. Tim Skerjanec was fifth in the one-mile run.

 

Henry Elliott was third in the high jump and Allbrandt was fifth. Landon Schluter was fifth in the triple jump.

 

 

State outlook

 

Tigers head coach Jordan Gilge said that the team will have nine boys and nine girls competing at the state track and field meet later this week.
