Planned shopping complex renamed Tri-Cities Crossing

KINGSPORT — Developer Stewart Taylor has renamed his planned regional commercial project and appointed a new tenant recruiter.
In March 2013, Taylor announced plans for Heritage Point Towne Center, a prospective shopping complex with one million square feet of retail, entertainment and dining facilities at the Interstate 81/26 interchange.
The development is now called Tri-Cities Crossing while grading on the site nears completion, members of the Kingsport Economic Development Board were told by members of Taylor’s team at their last meeting.
“We felt the name Heritage Point was not taking advantage of what was probably a … recognition that it is Tri-Cities Crossing,” Taylor’s attorney, T. Arthur “Buddy” Scott, said of the decision. “We felt that … with the interstate sign and intersection there, it made better sense to capitalize on that.”
Tri-Cities Crossing is competing with two other regional commercial projects, The Pinnacle in Bristol, Tenn., and The Falls in Bristol, Va. Both are now being developed and trying to open for business. The Pinnacle features Bass Pro Shops as its anchor tenant, while The Falls has Bass Pro Shops competitor Cabela’s as its main tenant.
Scott said Taylor also has selected Thalhimer, a Virginia-based commercial real estate firm, to recruit tenants for his development.
