A young San Antonio talent leaves next week for a singing gig on hit Univision variety show “Sábado  Gigante.”

According to the San Antonio Independent School district, Isabel Sánchez, 11, a fifth grader at Maverick Elementary School, has been invited by Univision producers to perform on the high-rated Spanish-language staple that’s hosted by Don Francisco. It airs at 7 p.m. Saturdays.

An entertainer since she was in third grade, Isabel is also a student with the Network for Young Artists (NYA), a local mentoring program that uses engagement in the performing arts to encourage youngsters to fulfill their potential and complete their educations.

A send-off for Isabel is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Monday at Maverick, 107 Raleigh Place, near the corner of Babcock Road and St. Cloud Road.

If you can, show up and cheer on this special local youngster.
