Brothers ready for big day of league
PLAYERS of the future and the current crop of first graders will come together in a big day of rugby league at Oakes Oval, Lismore on Saturday.
Marist Brothers will host Kyogle in Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League in a whole club day where everyone from under-7s to first grade will play.
“It’s great to bring the juniors and seniors together and try and make a day of it,” club treasurer Greg Stewart said.
“We’ll have three senior players allocated to each junior team throughout the day.
“It’s all about retaining our juniors and getting them along to our senior games.”
The clubs will contest the Westlawn Shield based on games won by each club from under-10s through to first grade.
Junior rugby league starts from 8.30am with the under-7s and continues until 4pm with the under-16s.
Under-18s then kick-off at 5.30pm with first grade set down for 8pm.
Entry is free for all junior players and their families who have a season pass.
