THERE wasn’t a whole lot for the fans at GIO Stadium to get excited about at the weekend until classy halfback Nic White and rising lock Sam Carter combined for the match-winning try midway through the second half.

Carter ran onto a delightful short ball from White, and sprinted 20 metres to swan dive in next to the posts and break the visitors’ stubborn resistance.

The Brumbies duo have been rewarded for that match-turning play with selection in our round 13 team of the week.

But who else made the cut? Read on for the complete XV, compiled by Fox Sports Stats.

1. Loosehead Prop – Schalk van der Merwe (Lions) was the busiest loosehead over the weekend, making eight runs (23m), one offload and four tackles against the Highlanders.

2. Hooker – Adriaan Strauss (Cheetahs) was the pick of the hookers for his efforts against the Force. Strauss made the most runs by a hooker in the round with 11 (48m) and also made three tackle busts, three offloads and three tackles. Stephen Moore also deserves a mention for his defensive efforts against the Sharks.

3. Tighthead Prop – Ben Tameifuna (Chiefs) grabbed his second career double on the weekend and became just the second prop to score a double this season. Coenie Oosthuizen also deserves a mention for his high work rate against the Force, but his discipline let him down conceding a round-high four penalties.

4. Second Row – Sam Carter (Brumbies) continues to excel for the Brumbies and scored the only try of the match in a tough encounter in Canberra. Carter finished the game with three runs (25m), two tackle busts, two lineout wins and 11 tackles.

5. Second Row – Paul Willemse (Bulls) made a round-high 11 lineout wins on the weekend for the Bulls and finished the match with seven runs (26m), one offload, two tackle busts, one forced penalty and nine tackles.

6. Blindside – Jean Deysel (Sharks) carried the ball strongly against the Brumbies in Canberra, making the equal third most runs in the round with 16.

7. Openside – Despite spending ten minutes in the sin bin, Matt Hodgson (Force) was a standout for the Force in their win over the Cheetahs. The Force skipper made the most tackles in the round with 20 (and missing just the one) and also set up Hayward’s first half try. Jarrad Butler also deserves a mention for his defensive efforts against the Sharks.

8. No.8 – Boom Prinsloo (Cheetahs) pips his opposite Ben McCalman (Force) and Lions star Warren Whiteley to the No.8 jersey with his effort in the Cheetahs’ loss to the Force. Prinsloo scored the Cheetahs’ only try and made a round-high 16 runs (83m), one linebreak, four tackle busts, one offload and nine tackles.

9. Halfback – Nic White (Brumbies) gets the halfback jersey for his composed performance against the Sharks in Canberra, leading his pack around the park brilliantly. White set up the only try of the match and also made two linebreak assists, seven runs (29m), two tackle busts, three offloads and six tackles.

10. Fly-half – Colin Slade (Crusaders) was the pick of the first fives over the weekend with his 27-point haul against the Reds. The 27 points was the most he has ever scored in a match and was the equal most a Crusaders player has ever scored in a match against the Reds. Handre Pollard (Bulls) also deserves a mention for his 20-point haul in the Bulls’ win over the Stormers.

11. Left Winger – Lolagi Visinia (Blues) makes the team for the second consecutive week and has now scored a try in each of his past three games. Visinia made three linebreaks, six runs (68m), and five tackle busts in the Blues’ loss to the Chiefs.

12. Inside centre – Jan Serfontein (Bulls) beats the Force’s Kyle Godwin to the inside centre spot with his efforts against the Stormers. Serfontein made 1 linebreak, 7 runs (47m), 1 offload, 3 tackle busts, 1 pilfer and 8 tackles.

13. Outside Centre – Tim Nanai-Williams (Chiefs) scored his fifth try of the season on the weekend and also set up another in the Chiefs’ win over the Blues.

14. Right winger – Johnny McNicholl (Crusaders) scored two cracking tries against the Reds at Suncorp and set up another to make the team for the second consecutive week. McNicholl made a massive 180m (the most run metres in the round) from his 10 runs, three offloads, three tackle busts and two tackles.

15. Fullback – Jason Woodward (Rebels) beats out the impressive Ben Smith and Tom Marshall to grab the fullback jersey this week. Woodward set up Hegarty’s try and also made one linebreak, seven runs (81m), one offload, one tackle bust and three tackles.
