Attitash new Zip Lines
Zip Line Attraction Summer 2014 Zip from Summit of Bear Peak to Attitash Mountain Will Be Longest Single Span In Contiguous U.S.!
Attitash Mountain Resort has long been recognized as New England’s original summer fun ski area with the Alpine Slide, still the longest in North America, first opening to the public in 1976. Since then Attitash Mountain Resort has added many more summer attractions including the Mount Washington Valley’s longest mountain coaster and New Hampshire’s first free-fall Airbag Jump. This season, Attitash will introduce a new ZipTour attraction featuring the Flying Bear and Attitash Aerial Zip Lines.
“We are thrilled to once again be adding another major new attraction to the Attitash experience this summer,” said President of Attitash Mountain Resort and Wildcat Mountain John Lowell. “The installation project has already begun and we project to open the ZipTour, including the Preflight, Flying Bear and Attitash Aerial Zip Lines, by mid-summer.” ZipTour is a zipline experience where the rider has the ability to control their speed. It will offer two parallel cable lines at each of the spans being constructed. The new ZipTour will carry riders from the summit of Bear Peak to the base of Attitash Mountain. Two major zip line spans are being installed along with a training span. The Flying Bear Zip will be just under 5,000 feet long, reaching heights greater than 400 feet off the ground as it crosses the valley between the two mountains. It will currently be the longest single span zip line in the contiguous United States. The Attitash Aerial Zip will be just under 3000 feet long and return the riders to the base of Attitash Mountain.
The Nor’Easter Mountain Coaster, Alpine Slide, Eurobungy Trampoline, 24-foot Climbing Wall, Airbag Jump, and Slacklines are all scheduled to open for weekends only beginning Saturday, May 24 (including the Memorial Day Monday). Starting Saturday, June 14 the Waterslides, Buddy Bear’s Playpool, Scenic Chair Sky Ride, Horseback Riding and hand-led Pony Rides along the Saco River also become available.
Also opening Memorial Day Weekend is lift-serviced Downhill Mountain Biking at Attitash on a network of designated trails that have been developed and maintained for summer & fall mountain bike use. The Dirt Trax bike shop has added new, high-end downhill demo bikes to its available rental fleet and additional Eastern States Cup regional competitions, including “Enduro” and “Super D” races, as well as a weekly race league, have been added to the mountain bike events calendar. Attitash has over 21 miles of mountain bike trails including the more difficult and technically challenging lift-serviced downhill trails as well as cross-country trails.
