OSU women’s rowing: Beavers finish seventh at conference meet
GOLD RIVER, Calif. — The No. 19 Oregon State women’s rowing team wrapped up the conference meet Sunday with a seventh-place finish.
OSU earned seven points in the final team standings, while No. 3 Stanford claimed the title with 4.5 points on the waters of Lake Natoma at the Sacramento State Aquatics Center.
Going into competition, all seven crews were ranked among the best in the nation in the CRCA/USRowing Coaches Poll, including No. 3 Stanford, No. 4 California, No. 7 Washington, No. 8 USC, No. 12 UCLA, No. 15 Washington State and No. 19 OSU.
OSU’s novice 8 boat held on for the team’s best finish of the day, grabbing sixth place with a time of 7:14.9, nearly five seconds ahead of USC, who came in with a 7:19.8 for seventh place.
The varsity 8 finished less than a second behind Washington State, but had to settle for seventh with a time of 6:31.0, as the Cougars crept ahead with a 6:30.8.
The selections for the NCAA Rowing Championships will be announced Tuesday.
