Pierson leads area IESA state qualifiers

EAST PEORIA, Ill. — Seventh grader Nicholas Pierson of Stephen Mack Middle School in Rockton finished fifth in the shot put and 10th in the discus to highlight area competitors’ efforts in the Illinois Elementary School Association State Track and Field Championships at Eastside Centre over the weekend.

 

Pierson threw the shot put 41 feet, 2 1/2 inches and tossed the discus 108-08.

Other top area finishers include:

 

• Seventh grader Bryan Martinez of South Beloit Junior High was seventh in the 800 (2:14.5).

 

• Seventh grader Luke Lindsrom of Stephen Mack was ninth in the 200 (:25.12).

 

• Seventh grader Miguel Guardado of South Beloit Junior High was 20th in the high jump (5-feet).

 

• Seventh grader Jordan Tresmer of Roscoe Middle School was 19th in the 400 (1:04.58).

 

• Seventh grader Taylor Frommer of Stephen Mack was 26th in the 1600 (5:44.82).

 

• Roscoe Middle School’s seventh grade girls 4×400 relay was 12th (4:28.58) and its 4×200 relay was 22nd

(1:57.60).

 

• Seventh grader Gretta Wulf of Stephen Mack was 23rd in the high jump (4-04).

 

• Eighth grader Dallas Washington of Roscoe Middle School was 21st in the 100 (:11.96 seconds).

 

• Eighth graders Josiah Harp and Wesley Provost of Stephen Mack finished 11th (2:09.80) and 13th

(2:10.29), respectively, in the 800.

 

• Eighth grader Mitchell Harper of Willowbrook Middle School was eighth in the long jump (19-05).

 

• Eighth grader Nathan Eccles of Roscoe Middle School was 10th in the discus (129-08).

 

• Eighth grader Madelyn Kovarik of Stephen Mack was 21st in the 800 (2:32.40) and 25th in the 1600

(5:46.01).

 

• NOTES: In an article last week we failed to mention that both Guardado and Martinez of South Beloit Junior

High had collected titles in sectional competition.
