The Canberra Raiders are set to return to their spiritual home at Seiffert Oval for a pre-season trial against the Newcastle Knights in February 2015.
Seiffert Oval was the Canberra Raiders’ first home ground when they entered the then NSW Rugby League Premiership in 1982. The team left the oval in 1990 and it has since been used by local rugby league clubs.
Queanbeyan City Council last night endorsed a proposal from the Canberra Raiders to hold the 28 February trial at Seiffert Oval on a cost recovery basis.
Queanbeyan Mayor Tim Overall said “the Raiders have ventured back to Seiffert Oval sporadically over the years, and as recently as a few weeks ago for a training session”.
