The annual four day festival of world class show jumping and entertainment held in the grounds of Bolesworth Castle – now in its seventh year – returns from the 12th to the 15th June 2014.

The event has gained three star international status this year, which means attendance has been attracted from riders right across the globe.

Organisers say it promises to be a fantastic event, not only for equine enthusiasts but for the whole family, with all-round entertainment and free admission for those under 12 years old.

The four day festival offers extreme sports, classic cars as well as opportunities to see rare birds and animals. The Bolesworth Food, Fashion and Lifestyle Festival will also celebrate the very best in local food and drink, holistic beauty and lifestyle – with fashion shows and even more family entertainment.

Maria Clayton, Head of Communications at British Showjumping, said:“To have another 3* International Show in Great Britain is something that the sport was desperately in need of.”

British show jumpers won Team Gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games as well as two individual medals at the European Championships last year. They also dominate the World Ranking list, with the Bolesworth International allowing spectators to enjoy watching the sport at its very best.

Maria adds that the spectacle will also give riders the opportunity to gain valuable international experience on home soil.

The event is seen as a strong boost for the local economy too. The Bolesworth Estate, traditionally a dairy farming estate, now boasts over 125 commercial lettings, with over 850 people employed there. The event attracts major sponsorship, and this year welcomed Redrow Homes onboard as a major new sponsor of the Sunday afternoon Grand Prix.

Another highlight of the event this year is the Business Lunch, for which Malcolm Walker CBE (CEO of Iceland Frozen Foods) will be guest speaker. The lunch will take place on Friday 13th June in the newly enhanced hospitality area overlooking the International Arena, with Bolesworth Castle as the backdrop.

Malcolm, who lives in Cheshire, founded Iceland and chaired the business through 30 years of consistent sales growth until his departure in early 2001. Four years later he returned to lead one of the most remarkable turnarounds in the history of UK retailing.

He commented: “I am delighted to have been asked to speak at the Bolesworth International Business Lunch and look forward to meeting with other businesses in the area.”

Also on the Friday, boy band Blue will be performing as the headline live act for a special music concert – a brand new addition this year for the Bolesworth International.

Seen as part of an ambitious plan to grow the international event year on year, the event team are expecting thousands of music fans to attend the open-air concert, with concert tickets also including entry into the Bolesworth International main event on Friday daytime.

Nina Barbour, Director of the Bolesworth Estate and the inspiration behind the Bolesworth International, said: “I am extremely excited about our show developing into such a key international event for Great Britain. Bolesworth will now be on a par with legendary equestrian venues such as Hickstead and Olympia,” adding: “We are delighted that Blue have agreed to perform as part of our event in Cheshire.”
