ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — After the first day of racing at the ICSA/Gill Co-Ed Dinghy National Championships first round, the Washington College sailing team sits in 12th place in its 18-school first-round regatta. The first round regattas will conclude tomorrow with the top nine finishing teams from each first-round regatta advancing to the finals on Thursday and Friday.

Just two races have sailed in each division in both first-round regattas as a lack of wind kept sailors on shore in the afternoon. Sophomore skipper Eric Siegel (Kilmarnock, Va./Christchurch School) and sophomore crew Alex Crawford (Annapolis, Md./Severna Park) are sailing for Washington in A Division, while junior skipper Ryan Bailey (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) and freshman crew Karlyn Long (Louisville, Colo./Fairview) are sailing in B Division. Seigel and Crawford finished 12th and 17th in the two A Division races; Bailey and Long were 10th in both B Division races today.

Second-ranked Yale currently leads Washington’s first-round regatta, while 20th-ranked Bowdoin is in second and 11th-ranked Brown is in third.

Tomorrow’s racing will begin at 9:30 a.m.
