Lakshmi Menon has joined a long list of actresses who have proved their mettle as singers too. Yes, the Naan Sigappu Manithan girl has now rendered a song, Aathadi Ammaadi Ambayil Pootha Ponnu for the film Oru Oorla Rendu Raja, the music of which has been scored by Imman.

Giving out details, the film’s director Kannan says, “We were looking for a fresh voice for this peppy number, and that’s when Imman suggested Lakshmi Menon’s name. He had heard her singing during a promotional event for Kumki on television and thought she had a very resonant voice. So, we called her up and asked her if she could sing for us. She readily came over and quickly finished recording the song. She sang like a pro and we are extremely happy with the way the song has shaped up.”

Ask Lakshmi about her experience recording the song, and she says, “Imman sir told me that he would proceed with the recording only if both of us were satisfied with it. I was comfortable singing, and we finished the whole song pretty fast. I’ve learnt music and love singing. I will definitely take up singing offers if they come my way — be it for my films or that of others.”
