Clinton “C.J.” Bailey of Jackson Liberty High School finished fourth in the 400- meter hurdles in 53.84 at the NJSIAA outdoor track and field Meet of Champions at Frank Jost Field in South Plainfield on June 4.
Bailey was 11th in the 400 hurdles last year in 54.80.
He also anchored the 4×400 relay that was 26th in 3:23.40. Brandon McLish, Bryan Coger and Alonzo Aponte ran the other legs.
Ryan Rafferty of Jackson Memorial High School finished just out of medal position in the 1,600, placing seventh in 4:17.31. Teammate Ed Delesky was 16th in the javelin with a throw of 176-7, and Nick Claudeo was 26th in the 400 hurdles in 56.33.
Caitlin O’Brien of Jackson Memorial’s girls team was 19th in the 3,200 in 11:06.58.
The public is invited to a day of baseball during Holbrook Little League Day at the Lakewood BlueClaws’ stadium, FirstEnergy Park, on June 15.
Tickets are $8 each, two for $15 or four for $25.
There will be a player parade for all players in uniform before the game.
On June 14 at 10:30 a.m., a fundraiser will be held at the Rutgers University Stadium and Golf Course complex in Piscataway for Eric LeGrand and spinal cord research.
LeGrand is a Rutgers graduate and football player who was paralyzed during a game in October 2010 against Army.
Participants may walk, run or bicycle the route. Pets are also welcome. Afterward, free food, music and children’s games will be available.
