All Stewiacke singing the praises of rhubarb
Mayor Wendy Robinson appears on Breakfast Television with Alian Bosse, the Kilted Chef, who is in town to share samples, tips and recipes, as well as judge pies at the 7th annual Ravenous for Rhubarb Festival.
Are you Ravenous for Rhubarb yet? We can help if you are and we can help make you if you aren’t. The 7th annual Ravenous for Rhubarb Festival takes place June 13 to 15.
We kick things off with the luncheon at St. Andrew’s United Church in conjunction with St. James Anglican Church. Wander into the sanctuary to see the quilts on display.
We’re lucky to have John Simms, ECMA winner, giving an intimate, coffee house-like concert on Friday evening at the Community Centre.
Before you go into the Legion for breakfast on Saturday morning, stop by the plant sale the Stewiacke Garden Society is holding outside the door.
Many of the businesses are offering specials for the weekend, so be sure to drop by to check out the bargains. Perhaps you should pick up some sugar for your entry in Foodland’s pie baking contest on Sunday. You may want to time that with the ham and potato supper at the Baptist Church.
Sunday is Father’s Day, so why not take him to the Flaunt and Flash Car Show at Mastodon Ridge where the Kilted Chef will be offering some samples before he’s off to judge the pies.
The weekend wraps up with a chance to listen to the Kilted Chef give a talk about rhubarb or to ask him any questions about cooking.
This is a great way to kick off the warm weather and a good chance to try new rhubarb recipes, so come out and join us at all, or some, of the delicious events.
