Piranhas open swimming season
PLATTSMOUTH – Plattsmouth swimmers cruised down Twin Rivers Water Park’s lanes Wednesday night in their first home action of the season.
Plattsmouth Piranhas athletes battled the Southwest Iowa Sailfish in a range of swimming events. More than 100 girls and boys from both programs competed in backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle individual races. Students also took part in freestyle and medley relays.
A total of 112 swimmers ages 5-18 are competing for the Piranhas this summer. The program will have four home meets during its six-week campaign.
Plattsmouth will continue its season Monday night with a home dual against Nebraska City. Warmups will begin at 5:30 p.m. and races will start at 6 p.m.
The program will host the Plattsmouth Invite Sunday, June 22. Warmups are scheduled to start at 8 a.m. and events will begin at 9 a.m. The team will finish the home portion of its schedule Wednesday, July 9. The Piranhas will battle Auburn, Bellevue and Council Bluffs Lewis Central in a 6 p.m. quadrangular.
