Beach sports fest hits Racine this weekend

If you’re looking to hit the beach this weekend, check out Racine’s EVP Beach Sports Festival.

The event runs Saturday and Sunday at North Beach with beach volleyball, beach tennis and sand soccer tournaments, according to a newsletter from Real Racine, the local convention and visitors bureau. Participants include Lloy Ball, a four-time Olympic volleyball player.

EVP stands for Extreme Volleyball Professionals, now in its 10th year of visiting Racine. Admission is free to spectators. Food, drink and live music will be available at the nearby Beachside Oasis.

It’s one of several volleyball tournaments going on in the Milwaukee area this summer. The Association of Volleyball Professionals is coming to Bradford Beach July 3-6, and the National Volleyball League is bringing beach volleyball to this year’s IndyFest Aug. 16-17.
