Northern Lights Raceway gearing up for roaring weekend
The Northern Lights Raceway is set to host their second drag racing event of the season this weekend. Over 100 speedsters, including box cars, dragsters, motorbikes, and even snow mobiles are preparing to top speeds of 200 mph.
A few weeks ago, engines roared NLR to life in their Season Opener, with a strong turnout of speed fans turned out to cheer on the adrenaline junkies. A sunny and warm forecast for this weekend should promote another positive crowd.
Local drag racer Bryan Bates didn’t place in the season opener, but has confidence leading into this weekend.
“I was just getting settled into a new car,” said Bates on his performance at the NLR Season Opener. “(The car) is working well so far, and I’m getting more comfortable behind the wheel. I’m looking forward to maybe even picking up a trophy this weekend.”
Races begin at 10:00 a.m. both days, running well into the afternoon. Tickets can be purchased at the front gate of the NLR with a cost of $5 per person.
