The concert is open to the public, and the suggested donation will be $15 for adults and $5 for students.
Highlighting graduating seniors Marie Cikovic of Myerstown and Danielle Casey and Kaitlin Wingert of Lebanon, the dance program will celebrate the enduring traditions of the studio’s classical concert repertoire. Henry, owner and instructor at Movement Laboratory, will showcase ballet, contemporary and musical-theater works, including the internationally acclaimed “American Spiritual Suite.”
Several new pieces by emerging choreographers mentored by Henry will offer forward-focused works in modern, ballroom and world dance, according to a news release. Jessica Yahner will also present delightful tap work.
Henry is an international choreographer/director, professional dancer and educator whose works have been seen for over 28 years by performers at Gretna Theatre, Theater Harrisburg and the Fulton in Lancaster. In school districts across central Pennsylvania, Henry is known as “the dance lady” who brings “Goodwill through Dance” to classrooms. Her Youth Ensemble dance troupe is internationally known as “Children of Hope/Children of Peace,” a title bestowed on them by the Romanian people before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Henry has led her “Goodwill through Dance” tours on 17 international cultural exchanges via invitation from the Friendship Ambassadors Foundation of the United Nations.
In August, the ensemble will once again serve as cultural ambassadors for the 2014 Global Youth Assembly Summit at the United Nations.
