Eight Auburn track and field student-athletes were named All-Americans on Monday, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced. Student-athletes were honored for their performances at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.

Seniors Stephen Saenz and DJ Smith along with freshman Khalil Henderson were named First Team All-Americans, while juniors Samantha Scarlett and Valentina Muzaric, sophomore Rachel Dincoff and freshmen Justin Carter and Teray Smith were named Second Team All-Americans.

Saenz recorded a top-five finish at the NCAA Championships in the shot put with a throw of 64-10.75/19.78m. The selection is Saenz’s third outdoor All-America honor in the shot put and seventh overall.

Henderson recorded a personal-best time of 20.61 to finish sixth in the 200m final to earn his first All-American honor. Henderson’s sixth-place finish was the best by an Auburn athlete in the 200m since 2012 and the fifth time in the last six years a Tiger has been in the finals of the event.

In the women’s shot put, Muzaric and Dincoff finished 10th and 14th, respectively. Muzaric’s earned her second outdoor All-American honor and third overall following her throw of 54-5.75/16.60m. Dincoff gained her first All-American honor of her career with throw of 52-9.25/16.08m.
