LAKESIDE — The Chautauqua Choir is looking for singers.

The choir, under the direction of Michael Shirtz, is made up of singers of all ages, 13 and older, with diverse experience and all levels of singing backgrounds. The choir rehearses and performs a variety of music, from traditional sacred choral works to gospel and contemporary selections. The chorus performs annually with Hoover guest artists and instrumental groups.

The Chautauqua Choir has been a part of Lakside for many generations, providing a musical and spiritual dimension to the Hoover Community Worship Service each Sunday morning during the Chautauqua Season.

This chorus is an opportunity for first-time singers who want to try singing in a choir for enrichment, as well as for advanced singers who want a tranquil choral experience. No auditions are required for Lakeside’s Chautauqua Choir.

Singers are encouraged to attend rehearsals as well as the pre-service warm-up rehearsals on Sunday mornings. A daily chautauqua pass/auto pass is issued to people who live outside the Lakeside grounds for Thursday rehearsals and until 3 p.m. Sundays.

Music is provided. There is no participation fees to sing in the Chautauqua Choir.

For information, email programing@lakesideohio.com or call 419-798-4461, ext. 347.

Rehearsals are from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Thursdays at Orchestra Hall. Lakeside passes, and music will be passed out at the first rehearsal.
