Dave Avanzino’s brother, Peter Avanzino, is an animation director who won an Emmy Award in 2011 for his work on the animated sitcom “Futurama.”

If he’s not designing a set for a stage production, he could be crafting be a 3D sculpture of Donald Duck.

Or he could be mentoring a group of youngsters on the art of set building and then watching the group perform on a set he created.

Welcome to the world of Fullerton artist Dave Avanzino, whose artistry is far-reaching.

From his Fullerton studio, Avanzino, 50, crafts three-dimensional sculptures using paper, wood, wire and metal.
