Maxima helps Jack land dream job as a carpenter

JACK is only three weeks into his four-year carpentry apprenticeship but already has big plans for his future.

The Noarlunga Downs man started his apprenticeship with Luke Londema Carpentry last month, after Maxima helped him secure the job.

“I really wanted to be a chippie, so this is great,” Jack, 20, says.

“I am rapt about getting this job, I could not be happier.”

Jack says he had been applying for carpentry apprenticeships for about six months before landing this job.

“Before I got this apprenticeship I was just doing a bit of casual labouring work with a carpenter doing pergolas,” he says.

“That really got me interested in the job.”

Jack’s success comes as Messenger Community News announces it is part of Jobs 2014 — the nation’s biggest community-inspired jobs drive.

Jobs 2014 aims to create jobs for 2014 young people in the next eight weeks.

Jack, who was previously on a jobseeker allowance, says he loves seeing the houses come together, as they are constructed on-site.

“Eventually I would like to do my own thing with my own business,” he says.

“That’s the big picture.”
