Vize wins annual croquet trophy
THE annual Captain’s Trophy Golf Croquet competition for lower handicap players 0-7 was run over three sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in Forster in glorious weather.
With eight starters, the tournament was in the form of a round robin. Each player versus each of the other players in turn.
Some very tight games ensued with many going to the 13th hoop play-off. Handicaps are adjusted during the competition and several players saw their advantages reduced. Graham Innocent saw his handicap fall to the lowest possible at zero.
The result was right up to the final session with three possible winners depending on the result of one last game.
Ray Vize came out on top which meant Ray Vize, Nev Milne and Fred Smith-White each had six wins and two losses.
Looking at the scores for and against resulted in Ray winning the trophy for 2014. Fred and Nev were the runners up.
Congratulations to Ray for his sterling effort in winning The Captain’s Trophy. All players enjoyed some good Golf Croquet played in the usual friendly Forster spirit.
